In the beginning of this movie it tell us this movie start making in 2002. When mason from 5 years old to 18 years old. As mason prepares to leave his mother's new apartment and go to college. His mother Olivia from struggling till achieving. Comparison between two characters which are Mason the boy and his mom Olivia, are different from each others.
First start with Mason when he is in 1st grade. He always observing things around him. Collecting different objects from outside, like a rock. Not interested in school. Never complete his homework. Playing video games all the time. In addition he looking porn magazines with his friends. He like when his dad come to visit him and take him out. Mason like his dad car. When he is in middle school they moved to Houston. always wonder when his mom talked to new person. His stepfather cut his hair without even ask him. He was so mad and he talk to his mother about how he felt when his stepfather. He want to be a photographer After when he is 11th grade he start smoking and drinking. He have an affair with a girl named Sheena. Always late home. Finally started working know his a little responsibility. In the last after graduating he moved to Austin.
Second and one of my favorite cast is Olivia. She was a single mother but very energetic. Doing anything for family. Try to be a good parents. Wants to have a good life with her happy kids. She was struggling with her carrier but need someone who can give her support. Moved to houston where her mom living. Start school again so she can make and better life for her and the kids. She found a professor who was teaching her, they both get married and start living together. After he drunk, he abusing Olivia and the kids, she moved back with her friend. In between that Olivia finally finished her studies and start teacher. Olivia told one of the person who replacing a pipe for her: "you should go to school because you are so smart." and he did, after while they met at the restaurant and he say thank you to inspired me for doing study.
As a boy Mason he just think about himself and always confused with his life, and the other side his mom Olivia who start schooling because of her kids better future. Its hard for single mother to taking care of both home and the kids together but she did very well.
